About our community.
Cambourne Roman Catholic Community started to take shape in 2000, with single digits attending. Through the years, the numbers started picking up and today we have over 60 people attending mass.
Since the community started mass has been celebrated in the ark, until recently when we have moved to a bigger venue, The Vine Inter Church Primary School. The Vine is a great ecumenical school and has not been opened for very long. Mass continues to be celebrated at 5pm and because it is further away than the Ark we have now got a lift system, where people can be picked up from the Ark.
First Holy Communion classes started last year, and the first group received their communion in May last year. It was a great occasion and because of the vast amount of people attending mass we had to move from The Ark to The Hub. A new class is going on this year, and they are getting ready to receive their communion later this year. There has been two baptisms in the church, one in the Ark and one in the Vine.
Since November 2007, an article about what’s happening in the church started to be published in the local village magazine, The Cambourne Crier. Every month, an article is being published. If you missed one, please visit www.cambourne.info and upload a copy for you!
We have an altar server in Cambourne, who has received his guild of St Stephen’s medal earlier this year for serving for over an year. Since the end of last year we have been doing second collections, if there are no designated collections, for the new Cambourne Church and we hope to give our bit for the new church centre.
In the last couple of months, we have witnessed our second group of Holy Communion and second baptism in the community
We hope to grow our community bigger by moving to the new Church Centre, when it's built, so mass is more accessible and easier to attend.
